5th Aniversary Flashday

It all started sometime at the end of 2019… and now? Rose & Dagger is celebrating its 5-year anniversary!

I’m not really the type for sentimental talk or motivational quotes – that’s not my vibe. But I am genuinely grateful for the people who’ve gathered around this studio, for how they’ve helped it grow, and how fast we’re moving forward.

Now I can say with confidence that we’re finally starting to build awareness of traditional – or if you prefer, old school – tattooing within our local scene and beyond.

Whether it all began in Prievidza or we’re now based at Karpatská in Bratislava, one thing still holds true: Small town, Big hearts!

And what better way to celebrate than with another Flash Day?

I think we were among the first – if not the first – to revive this concept (super popular in Europe and the US) right here in Slovakia. So here’s a quick recap of how it all went down.

So how did it go?

I might’ve been more nervous before the event than usual… though honestly, who knows? Even a random phone call from the city office can throw me off. 😄But yeah – my head was buzzing with thoughts: Will everything go well? Will people show up? Will they actually want tattoos? Will the boys have enough to do?Do we have enough food? Booze? Or maybe…are we… boring?

All of that vanished right after we opened the door: 11:15 and our tiny studio was absolutely packed. About 15 random people in at once and the only stress that stuck with me was:

“How the hell are we gonna fit everyone in here?”

What followed was a total blackout in my head -pure focus on the work, brief flashes of convos with friends, and next thing I know, it’s almost midnight.

I’m sitting there with a beer in hand, watching Pavol calmly finish a piece on Adam.

Side note – Adam beat his personal record from our last flash day, and waited “only” 10 hours this time. 😄

Guys, you were absolutely unreal! Thanks a lot!

If I had to sum it all up in one sentence, I’d quote the legendary slogan from our merch:

MAKE TRADITIONAL GREAT AGAIN.

You’re the reason this is all worth it – to keep creating, growing, and spreading the message of traditional tattooing.
